Buckingham Palace confirms royal baby news in surprise announcement

Buckingham Palace has confirmed there’s a new royal baby on the way.

Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, are expecting their third child, with the Palace sending out a statement to confirm the happy news.

Speculation had mounted that Eugenie, 36, was expecting another baby after photos appeared of her with what appeared to be a growing bump.

Now, the arrival of her new baby has been confirmed.

The Palace said ”Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their third child together, due this summer.”

The statement continued ”August (aged 5) and Ernest (aged 2) are also very excited to have another sibling join the family.”

And it finished ”His Majesty The King has been informed and is delighted with the news.”

The last sentence was particularly telling as speculation has mounted in recent months that the princess and her sister, Beatrice, were being sidelined from the Royal Family following the disgrace of their parents, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson.

Neither Beatrice nor Eugenie attended the Royal Family Christmas celebrations at Sandringham in 2025. Just weeks earlier, their father had had his royal titles removed by his brother, King Charles III.

There was discussion about whether Beatrice and Eugenie might lose their titles as well. However, the Palace statement underlines that Eugenie is an HRH and Princess and seems to be a ringing endorsement that she will continue with that title.

The announcement was accompanied by an image of Eugenie’s two sons holding a copy of the scan photo of their new sibling.

Princess Eugenie’s third baby will be a fifth grandchild for Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson.

The baby will also be fifteenth in the line of succession to the throne. They won’t have a title.
