The 2025 BAFTA TV Awards proved to be an emotional affair for many viewers, with one particular moment pulling at the heartstrings. This year's event saw Strictly Come Dancing clinch the award for Most Memorable Moment. The honour was bestowed on Dianne Buswell and Chris McCausland's 'blackout dance' from the 2024 series.

Dianne was in attendance to accept the award, which was decided by a public vote. Although Chris wasn't present at the BAFTAs, he relayed a message to fans through his dance partner.

Their 'blackout' dance had captivated Strictly fans last year, incorporating a segment where Chris covered Dianne's eyes as the stage plunged into darkness, mirroring Chris' experience of the world as a visually impaired person.

"In one minute and 30 seconds of a dance, I feel like this told such a story. A story of hope, determination, resilience and vulnerability," Dianne conveyed on the BAFTA stage, reports Edinburgh Live.

"This moment meant so much to the both of us, so I'm just so thrilled that we have this," the professional dancer continued, visibly touched. She then relayed Chris' message to Strictly fans: "Chris did have something he wanted me to say, and that is 'after 22 years in comedy, he wins a Bafta for dancing'."

Viewers tuning into the BAFTAs on Sunday (11 May), were quick to spot Dianne's boyfriend Joe Sugg in the audience as the camera swept across the room. As Joe observed his girlfriend on stage, the overwhelming emotions resonated through the screens, eliciting a heartfelt reaction from TV audiences.

Fans were quick to react to a touching moment during the awards ceremony, with one viewer taking to Twitter to express their sentiment: "Awwww did I spot a tear in Joe's eye? #BAFTAS #BAFTATVAwards," while another confessed their emotional response: "I've just absolutely wailed at that shot of Joe with tears in his eyes #BAFTATVAwards #BAFTAS."

Others joined in expressing their feelings, as one person tweeted: "Joe crying whilst Dianne receives her award I'm not okay #BAFTAS," whereas another Twitter user commented on the scene too: "Omg Joe sugg crying at Dianne accepting the award has fully got me #BAFTas."

The night continued with accolades being bestowed upon several television stars: Danny Dyer was celebrated for Comedy Performance, Jessica Gunning received recognition as Best Supporting Actress, and Ruth Jones was honoured for Female Performance in a Comedy at the event.
