"Sanford and Son’s" Demond Wilson dies at 79
PALM SPRINGS – Demond Wilson, who starred with Redd Foxx on television’s “Sanford and Son”, has died in Palm Springs. Wilson played Lamont Sanford, the son of Fred Sanford on the NBC sitcom. Sanford and Son topped the CBS The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour and ABC’s The Brady Bunch in the ratings. It reached No. 2 in 1972-73 and 1974-75 and was a top-10 hit in each of its last five seasons. Wilson later portrayed Oscar Madison on The New Odd Couple and appeared in the film ‘Me and the Kid.’ Wilson was 79 when he died Friday of complications related to cancer TMZ reported.
