New Delhi, Dec 31: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully carried out a salvo launch of two indigenously developed Pralay missiles in quick succession from the same launcher off the Odisha coast. The user evaluation trial was conducted around 10.30 am on December 31, with both missiles following the intended trajectory and meeting all mission objectives, according to tracking data from the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur. Terminal events were confirmed by telemetry systems deployed onboard ships near the impact points, said the defence ministry.

Pralay is a solid-propellant, quasi-ballistic missile equipped with advanced guidance and navigation systems, capable of delivering different types of warheads with high precision.

The missile has been developed by DRDO in collaboration with multiple laboratories, public sector units and Indian industry partners. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, the Indian Army, the Indian Air Force and industry partners, saying the successful salvo launch demonstrated the reliability of the missile system. DRDO Chairman Samir V Kamat said the achievement indicated the system’s imminent readiness for induction by the armed forces.
