Cheese products recalled amid urgent listeria warning - full list of 18 items

A recall has been issued for a range of cheese products due to concerns over potential contamination with harmful bacteria. JOD Food Products has recalled 18 items because of the "the possible presence of listeria monocytogenes".

Consuming contaminated food can lead to severe illness, with symptoms such as high temperature, body aches, chills, nausea and diarrhoea. Certain groups, including pregnant women, the elderly, and individuals with compromised immune systems - like those suffering from cancer, diabetes, kidney disease or on steroid medication - are at an increased risk of serious complications.

The Food Standards Agency has issued a notice advising consumers who have purchased the affected cheese products not to consume them and to return them to the point of purchase for a full refund. The notice further states: "Symptoms caused by this organism can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea."

It adds: "However, in rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications, such as meningitis", reports the Express.

It also highlights that "Some people are more vulnerable to listeria infections, including those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one-month-old and people with weakened immune systems."
