Greggs issues urgent warning to customers 'who eat steak bakes'
by James Rodger, https://www.facebook.com/jamesrodgerjournalist · Birmingham LiveGreggs has issued an urgent warning to customers who eat steak bakes. Greggs is recalling one of its most iconic products after a blunder meant the wrong product was placed in the package, the bakery giant has today (Tuesday January 21) confirmed.
The bakery giant warned customers who have bought a two-pack Steak Bake to exercise caution. The company - which is a staple on high streets across the country - said that due to an error, some packs contain sausage, bean and cheese melts.
These contain sulphites which present a possible health risk to anyone with an allergy. Some products have been incorrectly labelled in Steak Bake packaging which do not contain sulphites, Greggs - which sells the items at Iceland stores - said.

The recall refers to two-pack Steak Bake 280g packets with a best before date of May 19, 2025. The product is sold exclusively at Iceland, a frozen food specialist which is rivalled by the likes of Asda, Morrisons, Tesco, Sainsbury's, Aldi, Lidl and more.
Sulfites are a food allergen that can cause allergic reactions in some people, especially those with asthma. Symptoms can include wheezing, coughing, and chest tightness. The Food Standards Agency said: "Greggs is recalling the above product from customers and has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall. The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.
"If you have bought the above product and have a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites do not consume it. Instead return it to your nearest Iceland store from where it was bought for a full refund. For further information, contact Customer Care at +08081 473 447 or getintouch@greggs.co.uk"
