Alleged gunmen fatally shot by police during confrontation in Central Village

Two alleged gunmen were fatally shot during a reported confrontation with police in an area known as Zambia in Central Village, St Catherine on Friday afternoon.

According to the police, about 3:05 p.m., a team went to the area and was confronted by a group of heavily armed men.

A reported gun battle ensued.

During the exchange, two of the men were fatally shot, while others fled through nearby bushes.

A search was launched to locate them.

The Independent Commission of Investigations has been informed of the incident and has since launched a probe.
