A man who was stabbed to death near a pub in a Surrey village has been pictured for the first time.

Alfonso Sibley, 23, died after being fatally stabbed in an alleyway near the Wheatsheaf pub in Ewell on December 9.

The youngster, known as Alfie, was attacked outside the nearby Spring Tavern pub before making his way several hundred yards down the road to The Wheatsheaf, where staff attempted CPR as he collapsed.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Kingston Road at around 3.30pm but he sadly died at the scene.

Surrey Police launched an investigation into Alfie's death and have since charged a 15-year-old boy with murder.

He appeared at Guildford Magistrates Court on Monday. He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Guildford Crown Court on Monday, December 22.

A second 15-year-old boy, a 17-year-old boy, and a 20-year-old man were also arrested on suspicion of murder and have since been released on police bail while enquiries continue.

Horrified residents said the man was ambushed by attackers who arrived and fled on motorbike.

One local said: 'We have been told at least two attackers stabbed him to death after arriving and leaving on motorbikes.

'It's horrific. This is a quaint and peaceful village. He made his way to The Wheatsheaf. He was so brave.

'The staff there were amazing. The staff at The Wheatsheaf tried their very best. One lad gave CPR and they all tried to stop the blood which was pouring out everywhere, it was a bloodbath.

'They tried to keep him alive but it was too late. We're told there were two attackers and they were on bikes.'

Another woman in her 60s said she had been close to the scene and saw figures fleeing moments after the stabbing.

She said: 'I saw these figures running off. Then moments later the whole area was blocked off. I've told the police.

'The victim is not local, by all accounts. It makes you think if they came out of the area to carry this out.'

Patrick Ward, 56, said residents had recently noticed unknown men wearing balaclavas and riding motorbikes in the area.

He said: 'Something has gone seriously wrong in the last few weeks. I moved here thinking it was tranquil and peaceful middle England.'

Senior Investigating Officer, DCI Kimball Edey of the Surrey and Sussex Police Major Crime Team said: 'My thoughts remain with the loved ones of the young man who has lost his life.

'Our investigation is ongoing, however, at this stage we do not believe we are looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

'I know there has been concern in the local community about the events of Tuesday afternoon and I thank residents for their patience.

'I would also like to acknowledge the staff and customers at the Wheatsheaf Pub who tried to save the young man's life and I am grateful to them for their cooperation.

'We are continuing to appeal to anyone who may have information that could assist our investigation.

'Were you driving on the London Road, Ewell past the Spring Tavern between 3pm and 4pm, or along the Kingston Road past The Wheatsheaf pub or Queen Adelaide pub to the Ruxley Lane Junction, between 3.30pm and 5pm, on Tuesday, 9 December?

'Do you have CCTV, dashcam, helmet cam, or mobile phone footage that may have captured all or part of this incident? Every piece of information, no matter how small, could be vital.'
