Boy is stabbed to death by 'black-clad gang of youths'
by FRANKIE ELLIOTT FOR MAILONLINE · Mail OnlineA hunt for a gang of men 'clad in all black' is underway after they stabbed a 17-year-old boy to death outside a bus station.
Teenager Thomas Taylor had been walking along Greenhill Street in Bedford when he was ambushed by the thugs.
The attack left him with serious injuries and paramedics immediately rushed him to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
After carrying out the fatal stabbing, the group of males - who police say were all wearing dark clothing - ran off towards Hassett Street and Greyfriars car park.
Bedfordshire Police's Major Crime Unit has now launched a murder investigation and is looking to speak to the gang.
Several areas of the town centre have also been cordoned off whilst detectives carry out their enquiries.
Thomas was a student at Bedford Academy and headteacher Chris Deller said the school was 'deeply upset and shocked' by the news.
Mr Deller said: 'Thomas was a popular, well liked and respected lad who finished Year-11 with a strong set of results, before going on to study at sixth form.
'Our focus now is on supporting the family through such a difficult period, whilst helping our students and wider community to come to terms with such a tragic loss.'
Police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward and speak to them.
Detective Chief Inspector Katie Dounias, who is leading the investigation, said: 'This is an absolutely shocking incident in which a teenage boy has been stabbed to death in a busy town centre.
'We have a dedicated team of detectives working on this investigation and supporting Thomas's family at this incredibly difficult time for them.
'I would urge anyone who saw what happened or has any information to come forward and speak to police and help us bring those responsible to justice.
'We're aware that there are images and videos circulating on social media, please refrain from sharing any such clips and instead contact police.'
