Prince Harry SLAMS Donald Trump's NATO Comments, Reminds Him How Europe Was There For United States After 9/11: 'I Lost Friends' In Afghanistan
by Perez Hilton · Perez HiltonPrince Harry doesn’t agree with Donald Trump‘s comments on NATO!
In case you didn’t hear, during a Thursday interview with Fox News, the President threw some shade to our North Atlantic allies, questioning if they’d “be there” in the event the United States “ever needed them” to have our back. He said:
“We have never really asked anything of them. You know, they’ll say they sent some troops to Afghanistan, or this or that. And they did — they stayed a little back, a little off the front lines.”
Damn! That’s cold! Especially for someone like Harry, who served in the British Army for a decade, going to Afghanistan himself twice!
On Friday, he released a statement via a spokesperson, slamming Trump for running his mouth once again. He reminded The Celebrity Apprentice alum that the allies DID, in fact, support the US after 9/11:
“In 2001, NATO invoked Article 5 for the first–and only–time in history. It meant that every allied nation was obliged to stand with the United States in Afghanistan, in pursuit of our shared security. Allies answered that call.”
He continued, mentioning how many lives were lost — including his own personal friends who sacrificed themselves:
“I served there. I made lifelong friends there. And I lost friends there. The United Kingdom alone had 457 service personnel killed. Thousands of lives were changed forever. Mothers and fathers buried sons and daughters. Children were left without a parent. Families are left carrying the cost. Those sacrifices deserve to be spoken about truthfully and with respect, as we all remain united and loyal to the defence of diplomacy and peace.”
So well said! Servicemen and women deserve so much respect!
Not to mention, Prince William also served in the Army for over seven years himself! It’s a family affair, definitely not something Harry takes lightly. Nor should he!
