ASUU declares indefinite strike in three Lagos universities
by The Eagle Online · The Eagle OnlineThe Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Joint Campus Group of Lagos State-owned universities, on Tuesday declared an indefinite strike across the three institutions in the state.
The affected universities are Lagos State University (LASU), Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) and Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH).
The union said the strike followed the expiration of its 14-day ultimatum to the Lagos State Government on August 31, without a satisfactory resolution or concrete plan to address its demands.
In a statement signed by the union’s officials at the three universities, ASUU said the state government failed to initiate dialogue before the September 13 deadline.
It said its major demand was the “full domestication and implementation of the December 2025 ASUU-FGN Agreement” across the state-owned universities.
The union said this included the implementation of the Consolidated Academic Tools Allowance and other welfare provisions for serving and retired academic staff.

ASUU said the strike would continue until meaningful engagement produced a satisfactory resolution and the agreement was domesticated and implemented.
