Twelve killed, three abducted as gunmen attack Plateau mining site

The incident, according to reports, occurred around 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday when the assailants stormed the site while the victims were engaged in legitimate mining activities

Confirming the attack, the National President of the Berom Youth Moulder Association, Barrister Solomon Dalyop, stated that the assailants acted without provocation.
“Our people were carrying out their legitimate mining business in Fan around 9 p.m. when armed men attacked them, killing 12 and abducting three. Five others were injured,” Dalyop said.
He condemned the attack, describing it as a painful reminder of the persistent insecurity affecting communities in Plateau State, particularly those involved in lawful economic activities.
The injured have reportedly been taken to nearby medical facilities, while authorities continue efforts to locate and rescue the abducted victims.
