A member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly and House of Representatives aspirant, Teju okuyiga, has officially rejected the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election held on May 16, 2026 for Ekiti South Federal Constituency II.

He spoke in a statement titled: “Rejection of the Sham Ekiti South Federal Constituency II House of Representatives Primaries of May 16, 2026.”

The lawmaker described the shadow election as a complete “sham” that entirely failed to meet the minimum benchmark required for a free, fair, and credible democratic exercise.

The aspirant also accused party officials of manipulating the process and disregarding electoral guidelines during the primary.

“The exercise was a sham and fell far short of the minimum standards for a free, fair, and credible party primary,” Okuyiga stated.

The lawmaker alleged that party guidelines on delegate accreditation, voting. and collation were ignored in several wards.

According to her, results were announced in some areas where no voting took place.

“Figures were allocated: Results were announced in several wards where no voting took place,” she stated.

Okuyiga also claimed that voting did not hold in many wards across the three local government areas in the constituency.

She added: “No election in most wards: In a significant number of wards across my 3 constituencies, there was no voting, no ballot papers, and no opportunity for delegates to exercise their franchise.”

The aspirant further alleged that the process was deliberately manipulated against her as the only female contender in the race.

“The process was manipulated to disenfranchise supporters and undermine my candidacy as the only female aspirant in this race,” she said

Okuyiga described the development as a threat to internal democracy within the party and warned that exclusion based on gender could damage the party’s credibility.

She added: “This was not an election.

“It was a coordinated effort to subvert the will of the people and set a dangerous precedent for internal democracy within our party and for Ekiti State.

“When party leaders actively work against inclusion and gender representation, it weakens our party’s credibility and alienates the very people we seek to represent.”

Okuyiga called on the party’s National Working Committee, the Presidency, and other relevant authorities to review the outcome of the exercise.

“Democracy cannot thrive where allocation replaces voting and where gender is used as a basis for exclusion,” she added.

She said she would continue to pursue lawful channels within the party to challenge the outcome of the primary.

“I remain committed to due process and to pursuing every lawful and party-approved channel to ensure that the mandate freely given to me is respected,” she said.

The lawmaker also thanked her supporters and women in the constituency for standing by her.

“The struggle for fair representation continues, and we will not be silenced,” she added.
