Simi: NAPTIP begins probe on daycare tweet
by The Eagle Online · The Eagle OnlineThe National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has begun a probe into a statement made by singer Simisola Kosoko, simply known as Simi, while she was working in a daycare 12 years ago.
The anti-trafficking agency made the decision to probe Simi known in a statement issued on its Instagram page on Tuesday.
The Eagle Online recalls that the post by Simi resurfaced after her comment on a recent alleged rape case by a TikToker, Mirabel.
She had tweeted on X in 2012: “David has a crush on me.
“He kips comn close; actin lik he wana lock lips n den he puts his head on my lap.
“Shd I giv him a chance?
“P.S: Hes 4.”
NAPTIP said in the statement on Tuesday: “Following recent public discussions and concerns raised regarding alleged incidents of child sexual abuse/misconduct in daycare settings in Nigeria, we are committed to thoroughly investigating credible reports.

“We take all reports of child sexual abuse/misconduct seriously and are committed to investigating every credible claim.”
Responding to the backlash that followed the resurfacing of the post, Simi said: “I’ve never been depraved in my life.
“You can retweet all the tweets in the world about me loudly crushing on people I admire/d and or being a cheeky young woman.
“I wasn’t trying to hide it, because I don’t have anything to hide.”
