Wike, Makinde factions schedule meetings for national secretariat
by The Eagle Online · The Eagle OnlineThe two factions of the Peoples Democratic Party loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, have scheduled their National Executive Committee meetings for the national headquarters of the party in Abuja on Tuesday.
Both factions issued notices for the meetings on Monday, with the Wike faction adding that the Board of Trustees would also meet.
The acting National Chairman of the Wike faction, Muhammed Abdulrahman, through a notice by the National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, summoned the emergency NEC and BoT meetings.
The meetings, according to the notice issued on Monday by Anyanwu, who was suspended on Saturday by the Makinde faction, will be held at the NEC Hall of the party’s national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.
While the meeting of the BoT faction is scheduled for 11am, that of NEC will be held at 2pm.
The PDP secretariat had been under lock and key following the emergence of factions within the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
The National Chairman of the Makinde faction, Taming Turaki, confirmed their own NEC meeting also on Monday.
This was after his visit to the headquarters of the FCT Police Command, where he reported the Wike-led faction of plotting to disrupt party activities.
Speaking to newsmen after the visit, Turaki said: “We came to interface with the Commissioner of Police of the FCT regarding the meeting we plan to have tomorrow.
