UN Security Council to vote on US resolution backing Trump Gaza plan Monday
by Egypt Today staff · EgyptTodayNEW YORK – 15 November 2025: The UN Security Council is scheduled to vote Monday on a US-sponsored resolution endorsing President Donald Trump’s plan for Gaza, while Russia plans to introduce a rival resolution.
Trump’s 20-point plan, which last month secured a ceasefire and prisoner swap between Hamas and Israel, calls for a temporary international force in Gaza and a “Board of Peace” led by Trump with a mandate running until the end of 2027 to oversee a Palestinian technocratic government.
Washington is pressing for the UN Security Council’s approval of the US resolution.
US Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz warned that any failure to back this resolution would be “a vote either for the continued reign of Hamas terrorists or for the return to war with Israel.”
Russia circulated a competing draft among council members that does not call for a Board of Peace or the immediate deployment of an international force in Gaza.
The Russian text urges the UN secretary-general to identify options for implementing the plan’s provisions and report on the feasibility of a possible international stabilization force in the territory.
