The coalition is leading in 230 out of 288 assembly seats, with the BJP alone dominating in over 130 constituencies. The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), consisting of the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction), Congress, and Sharad Pawar’s NCP, lags significantly with leads in just 53 seats. The halfway mark to form the government in Maharashtra is 145, leaving the MVA far behind.
In Jharkhand, Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led alliance is on track to secure a second consecutive term. The coalition, which leads the I.N.D.I.A. bloc in the state, is ahead in 57 out of 81 assembly seats, comfortably surpassing the majority mark of 41. The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), in contrast, is trailing with leads in just 23 constituencies, marking a setback for the saffron party in the state.
