Kejriwal has turned Delhi into a garbage dump, polluted Yamuna: Amit Shah in Delhi rally
Delhi assembly elections 2025: Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticised Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal at a Rohini rally, accusing him of turning Delhi into a "garbage dump" and polluting the Yamuna. Shah blamed AAP for misgovernance, citing rain-related deaths and poor infrastructure.
by Edited By: Nitin Kumar · India TVDelhi Polls 2025: With the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections approaching, Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal during a public rally in Rohini, accusing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of misgovernance and neglect.
Addressing the gathering, Shah criticised Kejriwal’s administration for the deteriorating state of the national capital. “In the last 10 years, Arvind Kejriwal has turned Delhi into a garbage dump. The Yamuna is more polluted than ever, and the city’s infrastructure is crumbling,” he said.
He further alleged that Delhi’s poor drainage system and lack of preparedness had led to several casualties during the monsoon season. “In the past few years, more than 35 people have lost their lives due to rains in Delhi. This hasn't happened anywhere else, yet AAP continues to make excuses instead of taking responsibility,” he added.
Amit Shah attacks Kejriwal over Yamuna pollution, corruption
Shah accused Kejriwal of corruption, misgovernance, and playing petty politics to cover up his failures.
Addressing the crowd, Shah dismissed Kejriwal's allegations that the BJP was responsible for polluting the Yamuna. "Kejriwal is accusing us of mixing poison in the Yamuna just to win elections. The reality is, he diverted the money meant for cleaning the river to fuel AAP's corruption," Shah said.
He further criticised the AAP government for failing to provide clean drinking water to Delhi residents. "Under Kejriwal's rule, the Yamuna has become more polluted than ever, and people are being forced to drink filthy water," he alleged.
Shah claimed that sensing electoral defeat, Kejriwal was resorting to desperate political tactics. "Kejriwal is making excuses because he knows people will reject him. Delhi voters now have an opportunity on February 5 to oust 'AAP-da' and bring BJP to power," he said, using a play on words to criticise AAP.
Promising a transformation if the BJP wins, Shah said, "We will make Delhi the number one capital in the world. The people of Delhi deserve better governance, and the BJP is committed to delivering it."
The BJP and AAP are locked in an intense battle for Delhi as the campaign heats up ahead of the crucial 2025 elections.
