Labour’s Scottish leader tells Starmer to quit – POLITICO
by Andrew McDonald · POLITICOLONDON — The leader of the Scottish Labour Party called on Keir Starmer to quit Monday, in a dramatic challenge to the U.K. prime minister’s authority that left his Cabinet allies scrambling to defend him.
“My first priority and loyalty is to my country, Scotland,” Anas Sarwar told reporters at a hastily-arranged press conference in Glasgow. “The distraction needs to end. And the leadership in Downing Street needs to change.”
Sarwar — who faces potentially deadly elections in Scotland in May — is the most senior Labour politician to call for Starmer to quit.
