'Having Your Brother..' Jake Reiner On Brother, Nick Killing Their Parents, Rob And Michele's Murder

Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner were brutally murdered on the same night in their home, allegedly by their son, Nick Reiner. After months of the ordeal, Rob Reiner's son, Jake Reiner, shared his statement.

Rob Renier and his wife, Michele Renier, were brutally murdered by their own son, Nick Renier. The 78-year-old, Rob Reiner, and his 68-year-old wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead in their home. In one night, the entire Reiner family's world changed and most of them left, leaving a hole that can never be filled, especially for Rob Reiner's elder son, Jake Reiner. 

Two months after Nick Reiner pleaded not guilty to killing his parents, Rob Reiner and Michele, Jake Reiner talked about the pain of losing his family overnight. He even talked about his brother, Nick Reiner's role in the brutal murder.

On April 24, 2026, Jake Reiner penned a heart-wrenching first statement after his parents' death. He revealed that in a week, he will be approaching his first birthday without his parents. Talking about the painful night, he revealed that he was at a celebration of life for his best friend, who died in October 2025, when he got a call from his sister, Romy, and she told him their father had died. Jake further revealed that minutes later, he got another call from his sister as she told him that their mother was also dead. He wrote:

"It was at that moment I received a call from my sister Romy telling me our father was dead. Minutes later, she called back telling me our mother was also dead. The 45-minute Lyft ride from downtown to the west side was unendurable. My world, as I knew it, had collapsed. I was in a trance."

Talking about his parents' murder, Jake stated that he was robbed of so many things in that one night. It breaks his heart thinking that he lost both parents instantly at the same time. It is his living nightmare. However, he often wonders how scared his parents would have been on the night they died. He wrote:

"This truly is my living nightmare. I can't even begin to put myself in my parents' shoes, but one thing I keep coming back to is how frightened they must have been. They were the last people in the world to deserve what happened to them. They deserved to be loved, they deserved to be respected, and above all they deserved to be appreciated for how much they gave to all three of us and to the world."

Further, in the long note, Jake penned how his brother, Nick, was involved in the middle of it. He was the main accused, and Jake doesn't know how to process it. As everyone has a lot of questions, which will be answered over time. He stated that nothing can heal the pain and it is impossible to process the whole thing. He wrote:

"We lost more than half of our family that night in the most violent way imaginable. Sure, any loss of a parent is devastating, but nothing compares to losing both of them at the same time and, on top of that, having your brother be at the centre of it. It’s almost too impossible to process. I understand that people have questions about what happened. Some of those answers will come in time."

It was one of the chilling December nights at around 3:30 a.m. local, the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAPD) received an urgent medical call at the Reiners’ Brentwood residence. When the police arrived, what they saw was a gruesome murder of two individuals. They were later confirmed to be the 78-year-old Rob Reiner and his 68-year-old wife, Michele Singer. As per the officers, Rob and Michele had injury marks, and something was stabbed on their bodies. The LAPD immediately requested a homicide investigation under the robbery-homicide division.
