Thomas Partey Charged With Multiple Rape After Leaving Arsenal
by Ernest Victor · Naija NewsFormer Arsenal midfielder, Thomas Partey has been charged with rape by the Metropolitan Police Service.
Thomas Partey was charged days after Arsenal failed to extend his contract. Then, reports claimed that the Gunners and the 32-year-old Ghana international were unable to agree on a new deal.
Hence, Partey had to be released from the London-based side, and he is currently without a club.
Amid that, there have been reports that an unnamed Premier League player plying his trade at a London club was being investigated for rape.
Reports claimed that the footballer in question committed the sexual assault with his former partner while they were on a vacation outside England. The victim reportedly told the police about the sexual assault after she and the footballer had broken up.
Aside from her, two other women allegedly accused the Ghanaian footballer of sexually assaulting them.
This scandal has been on for over two years, but the name of the accused was not made public until today, when a statement from the Metropolitan Police Service finally named Partey as the suspect.
The statement reads: “The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised the Metropolitan Police Service to charge a man after a file of evidence was submitted by detectives.
“The Met has issued a charge and requisition to Thomas Partey, 32 (13/06/1992), of Hertfordshire, in connection with the following offences: Five counts of rape, One count of sexual assault.”
Naija News gathered that Thomas Partey allegedly committed the offences between 2021 and 2022.
