‘This Boy Was Never My Friend’ – Wike Knocks Dele Momodu

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has mocked former presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dele Momodu.

Naija News reports that Wike, during a media chat with some select media houses on Thursday, described Momodu as a ‘boy’, saying he does not even know his name.

Wike’s comment about Momodu may not be unconnected to Dele Momodu’s consistent criticism of the former Rivers Governor’s political antics.

The veteran journalist had recently claimed that Wike cannot defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) because he will lose his authority.

In what appears as a response to the claim, Wike said, “There is this boy, they say he is a journalist. What’s his name? He is big.”

When a journalist said “Dele Momodu”.

Wike added, “Okay, I don’t remember all these names. He was never my friend. He ran for president, but he didn’t get one vote.”

Meanwhile, Dele Momodu has thrown his weight behind the newly adopted African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition.

Naija News reports that Momodu, who endorsed the coalition, warned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu not to jeopardise Nigeria’s democracy in his quest for a second term in office.

Speaking on Arise News on Wednesday, Momodu urged Tinubu to remember his pro-democracy roots and reflect on the long-term impact his decisions would have on his legacy.

Momodu, who addressed the President, said, “Once upon a time, you were one of our leaders when we were fighting for this democracy.

“So what shall it profit you, if you can do two terms, three terms, if you can live forever and rule Nigeria forever? By the end of the day, your name enters that book of ignominy. If I meet him today, that’s the question I will ask: is it worth it?”

He stressed that Tinubu had already achieved what revered political figures like Obafemi Awolowo, MKO Abiola, and Nnamdi Azikiwe never did, becoming Nigeria’s president.
