PDP Convention: Angry Delegates Pull Down Posters Of Absent Governors In Ibadan

by · Naija News

Tension erupted on Saturday at the ongoing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) convention in Ibadan as angry delegates tore down posters of governors who failed to attend the event.

The delegates, visibly displeased, pulled down campaign materials bearing the images of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, and Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, both of whom were “conspicuously absent” at the convention taking place at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba.

The convention is being held despite the PDP’s lingering internal crisis and two separate court judgments challenging the exercise.

The faction led by Umar Damagum insisted on proceeding, “relying on a judgment secured at an Oyo State High Court,” which reportedly gave it the legal backing to go ahead with the gathering.

Although Adeleke and Kefas were absent, several PDP governors were sighted at the venue as proceedings commenced.

Those in attendance include Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri; Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang; Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed; and Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal. The host governor, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, also joined the lineup of present governors.

Several high-profile PDP chieftains also graced the convention. Among them were former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara, and former governors Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom), Babangida Aliyu (Niger), and Ibrahim Shekarau (Kano).
