Kaduna Governor Mourns, Confirms Death Of El-Rufai’s Mother

The Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, has extended condolences to former Governor of the state, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and the entire El-Rufai family following the passing of Hajiya Umma El-Rufai on Friday, March 27, 2026.

Sani, in an official statement on Friday, described the late Hajia El-Rufai as a woman of rare grace, moral clarity, and quiet strength.

He praised her spirit of kindness and embodiment of generosity.

The Governor described Hajiya Umma as “a devoted mother and matriarch, a woman of rare grace, moral clarity, and quiet strength.”

He highlighted her life of compassion, humility, and selfless service, noting that she was known for extending kindness to the vulnerable, offering counsel and reconciliation in her community, and embodying values of faith, patience, and generosity.

The governor also expressed solidarity with the bereaved family during their period of grief and offered prayers for the deceased as well as for the family to bear the loss.

“In this hour of grief, I stand in solemn solidarity with the El-Rufai family, praying that Almighty Allah will forgive her shortcomings, accept her righteous deeds, and grant her eternal repose in Aljannatul Firdaus. May He comfort the bereaved and grant them fortitude to endure this profound loss. Ameen,” the statement added.
