Hardship: Gov Abdulrazaq Approves Financial Bonus For Kwara Workers

by · Naija News

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State has approved a financial bonus for civil servants, including local government employees, equivalent to their monthly PAYE obligations.

According to a statement from the state’s Commissioner for Finance, Hauwa Nuru, this emergency support measure is set to be implemented for three months, from October to December.

Nuru explained that the bonus is intended to help mitigate the impact of recent adjustments to the PAYE deductions following the introduction of the new minimum wage.

She described it as a necessary support to assist workers as they adapt to the newly implemented PAYE in accordance with the Personal Income Tax Act.

The payment of the bonus is effective from October and will run till December 2024. This is a significant step by His Excellency to support workers,” she stated.

She urged employees who have not yet registered with the Kwara State Residents’ Registration Agency (KWSRRA) to do so promptly, noting that those without registration will be ineligible for the bonus in November and December.

The statement also revealed that labor unions have consented to refund a special levy previously deducted from workers’ salaries and have agreed to halt further deductions until further notice.

Governor AbdulRazaq’s directive to deliver this relief speaks volumes about his humanity and his commitment to the welfare of Kwara workforce,” Nuru concluded.
