Savannah Guthrie’s Mother Missing From Home After Suspected Crime

Arizona authorities found evidence of a crime at the home of Savannah Guthrie’s missing mother, per ABC News. Nancy Guthrie, who is 84 years old, was reported missing on February 1 after last being seen by family members at her residence on the evening of January 31. “She did not leave on her own, we know that,” said Pima County sheriff Chris Nanos, who previously confirmed via Deadline that homicide detectives were brought in because aspects of the scene gave officers “grave concern.” Nanos urged the local community to check their security cameras and share any relevant information, noting that it “could be fatal” if Nancy skips her daily medication. Deputies, neighbors, and search-and-rescue dogs have all looked for Nancy to no avail. “Right now, we don’t see this as a search mission as much as we do a crime scene,” Nanos said.

Savannah was absent from the Today show on February 2 but shared a message to viewers that was read on her behalf by Craig Melvin. “On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers, and messages of support,” her statement read. “Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom. We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900.” Today’s Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones reshared the statement later in the morning during their show. “We love Nancy; I know her personally,” Bush Hager said. “We are thinking of our dearest, dearest Savannah and her whole family right now. Our prayers obviously go out to Savannah.”
