Just 7% people would vote for Conor McGregor says new poll

by · Irish Mirror

A new survey has shown what little support Conor McGregor has in his bid to become President of Ireland.

The poll, which was conducted by the Sunday Independent/Ireland Thinks, has revealed that a staggering 90% of people would not vote for McGregor in the Presidential election later this year.

Furthermore, almost 70% of respondents stated that they would be less likely to vote for a TD/Councillor if they showed support for the controversial UFC fighter.

Only 7% of those taking part in the poll said they would vote for McGregor, with Fine Gael candidate Mairead McGuinness way ahead in the polls.

Taking to social media in the wake of the poll and news article, McGregor slammed the 'mainstream media' and questioned the validity of the study.

"Oh no everyone, the mainstream media said I have no support, it must be true so lol, Began McGregor's post on X.

"People, I will say it again, these government bought propaganda organisations are our enemy. I cannot put it any plainer. Enemies of REAL IRELAND. You will NEVER BEAT IRELAND.

"REAL CHANGE IS COMING!"

McGregor has long been teasing a run at the Irish Presidency when Michael D Higgins' second term comes to an end later this year.

His path to Áras an Uachtaráin looks a difficult one as the MMA star would need the support of 20 Oireachtas members or the backing of four local councils, both of which seem unlikely at this juncture.
