Tragedy as man and girl, 10, killed in caravan fire at popular holiday park in the UK

Two people have died following a fire at a caravan site at a popular holiday park in the UK.

Police were called to Goldenbeach holiday park in the village of Ingoldmells in Lincolnshire shortly before 4am on Saturday morning following reports of a fire at the site.

Despite the efforts of fire crews and first responders, two people lost their lives. The victims were reported to be a 10-year-old girl and a 48-year-old man.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire police said next of kin had been informed and would be supported by specially trained officers.

Enquiries are being carried out to determine the exact cause cause of the blaze and investigators are keeping "an open mind", the force said.

In a statement, Lincolnshire Police said: "We are very sad to confirm that two people have died following a caravan fire at Goldenbeach Holiday Park, Roman Bank, Ingoldmells.

"We were called at 3.53am today (April 5) to a report of a caravan fire at the holiday park where two people have tragically lost their lives. Their next of kin have been informed and will be supported by specially trained officers.

"Fire and rescue crews attended from Skegness, Wainfleet, Spilsby and Alford. There are two crews still at the scene and fire investigations are on-going.

"We have crime scene investigators on site, and we are carrying out inquires to determine the exact cause of the fire. We are at the very early stages of our investigation and as such we are keeping an open mind."
