The pop singer died tragically in Buenos Aires, checking into a hotel on Sunday and falling from the third floor on Wednesday. Aged 31, Liam Payne was found dead by a hotel manager following a distressing sound in a patio area at Hotel Casa Sur.

Alberto Crescenti, a spokesman for the city ambulance service, confirmed Liam fell from the third floor, causing "severe injuries which were incompatible with life."

The police are currently investigating the devastating incident to determine whether it was an accident or suicide, reports the Mirror.

Tragedy struck after singer Liam fell from a hotel in Buenos Aires' upscale Palermo district. Local news outlets La Nacion and Clarin reported that police were initially scrambled to the scene following a call about "an aggressive man who could be under the effects of drugs and alcohol."

Emergency services including police, fire crews, and ambulances congregated outside the hotel as the horrific event unfolded.

Speaking to TN, the ambulance service chief revealed: "At 17.04 through the 911 integrated public safety system, we were alerted of a person who was in an internal courtyard of the management of a south house hotel."

He continued: "At 17.11 a SAME team arrived and verified the death of this man and later we found out that he was a singer in a musical group. Unfortunately, he had injuries that were incompatible with life, as a result of his fall, so we had to confirm his death, there was no possibility of resuscitation."
