A man has been charged by gardai investigating the murder of Lee Slattery in Co Limerick 15 years ago.

The man, who is aged in his 30s, arrested on Monday as part of the ongoing investigation into the murder of the 25-year-old father-of-one, whose remains were discovered in the Delmege Park estate near Moyross in May 2010.

The suspect was held under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007, which allows gardai hold suspects for up to seven days.

Gardai have confirmed that the man has been charged with the murder of Mr Slattery and is due to appear in front of the Limerick District Court this afternoon at 3pm.

The body of Mr Slattery, a father-of-one from Ballynanty on the northside of the city, was discovered in a shallow grave in a wooded area at Delmege House estate on May 31, 2010.

Two men and a woman, all aged in their 30s, remain detained at Garda Stations in the Southern Region.

A woman in her 30s, who was also arrested on Monday by gardai investigating the murder, has since been released.

Gardaí say that they will prepare a file for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in relation to her alleged involvement in the case.
