The explosives, recovered earlier from a Red Fort blast-linked terror module, were stored in an open area of the Nowgam station.

Delhi Live News Updates: The Centre on Saturday said the blast inside Jammu and Kashmir’s Nowgam police station late Friday night occurred during a forensic sampling procedure. At least nine people were killed, and the toll may rise. The explosives, recovered earlier from a Red Fort blast-linked terror module, were stored in an open area of the station. The Red Fort case has intensified scrutiny of the “white-collar terror module” operating across J&K, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, from which nearly 2,900 kg of explosives were seized and eight suspects, including three doctors, detained. Investigators are still working to identify the module’s intended targets.

Delhi woke up to another day of dense smog on Saturday, with air quality slipping further into the severe category. The Early Warning System recorded an AQI of 386 at 7 am, while AQI.in put it at 470 roughly equal to smoking 12 cigarettes a day. Thick haze reduced visibility and slowed morning traffic. Officials said the variation in readings stems from differences in monitoring parameters and station locations. With no improvement in sight, the Commission for Air Quality Management has extended GRAP Stage III across Delhi-NCR.

Delhi live update: Woman shot dead in Punjabi Bagh house by 'lover'

A 24-year-old woman was shot dead allegedly by a jilted lover, who then allegedly turned the gun on himself at her house in west Delhi's Punjabi Bagh on Saturday, police said.

Police received a call around midday regarding two people lying in an injured condition in a house in the Old Slum Quarters in Punjabi Bagh, they said.

Inside the one-room dwelling, a woman, Muskan, was found lying on a mattress with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head, a police officer said. She was declared dead on the spot.

In another room of the same unit, a man, who was later identified as Neeraj, 25, was found with a gunshot injury on his chest, police said. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.

Prima facie, it appeared to be a matter of unrequited love, the officer said.

The Mobile Crime Team and a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team inspected the spot and collected samples for scientific examination, officials said.
