Supreme Court setback for Shiv Sena corporator who hit doctor

The Supreme Court on Monday cancelled the bail granted by the Bombay High Court to Shiv Sena corporator Ramesh Mhatre, accused of assaulting three municipal doctors at a civic hospital in Thane on July 6. The Bombay HC had granted bail to Mhatre and others in August while barring them from entering Maharashtra until the trial. Earlier this month, Mhatre withdrew his appeal against the bail conditions after the Supreme Court said those involved in such incidents “do not deserve to be out at all”.
