Punjab AAP leaders on Thursday condemned the alleged raid conducted by the Election Commission at Kapurthala House, which is the official residence of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in Delhi, and said the action "reeks of dirty politics." They accused the ECI of being biased in its action, claiming that it could not notice any "wrongdoings" by the BJP leaders.

An election official in Delhi said the team was at Mann's residence to conduct a search following a complaint of money distribution from Kapurthala House.

Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said on X, "@ECISVEEP with Delhi Police conducted raids on CM @BhagwantMann Ji's official residence (in Delhi) today. He is an elected CM & such actions reek of dirty politics. EC must take notice of @BJP4India candidates distributing cash to voters before doing such raids. Democracy deserves better".

Punjab AAP president and Cabinet minister Aman Arora said the BJP is "afraid of losing" the Delhi Assembly polls, and is trying to "spoil" the election atmosphere.

Delhi election Live updates: Kejriwal anti-national', says BJP chief Nadda over 'Yamuna poisoning' claim

BJP president JP Nadda on Thursday attacked Delhi's ruling AAP over corruption and asked people to make the national capital "AAPda free" in the February 5 polls.

Addressing a poll rally in Krishna Nagar, he also slammed AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal for claiming that Haryana was "mixing poison" in the Yamuna.

Calling Kejriwal "anti-national" for making such an allegation, Nadda said, "He is pitting the people of Delhi and Haryana against each other. He is trying to create panic. This man does not deserve to be in politics." The BJP chief also alleged that the AAP-led Delhi government had been involved in a Rs 8,000-crore scam in Yamuna cleaning projects.

"I can see that you have made up your mind to form a BJP government. This is not an ordinary election, it is an election to change Delhi's fate and image," the Union minister said.

"This election is about freeing Delhi from AAP, which has come to be known as 'AAPda (disaster)'... This election is about freeing yourselves from all the problems you have faced under its tenure," Nadda added.

He also accused the Delhi government of conducting 75,000 fake tests in mohalla clinics.

"As health minister, I am saying that in the mohalla clinics, 75,000 fake tests were conducted, resulting in crores of rupees in corruption. It (AAP government) also committed corruption of Rs 300 crore in medicines and gave tenders to their (leaders') relatives," he alleged.

Attacking the ruling party on civic issues, Nadda said the AAP dispensation had failed in effective administration.

"What has the AAPda done in the past 10 years other than blaming the central government and trying to cover up its mistakes? It has misled the people of Delhi and denied them the benefits of Modi ji's welfare schemes. Its only job has been to pit people against each other while sitting in glass palaces."

AAP leaders sought public support by declaring themselves as "kattar imandar (staunchly honest)" but they turned out to be "kattar bhrashtachar (staunchly corrupt)", Nadda alleged.

AAP ministers were in jail in a liquor scam case worth Rs 2,800 crore, he noted.

"These people say 'we have come out of jail'. Someone should tell them that they are out on bail. Their true place is behind bars and they will be sent back to jail after the elections," he warned.

Nadda also alleged AAP indulged in corruption amounting to Rs 28,000 crore in the Delhi Jal Board, Rs 500 crore in panic button installation in public transport, Rs 5,400 crore in ration distribution, Rs 5,710 crore in CCTV camera installation, and Rs 4,500 crore in bus procurement.

"Tell me, have there been water issues under it (AAP government) or not? Were tanker mafia flourishing or not? Kejriwal has turned Delhi into a garbage city. There is garbage outside every home. Dirty water is being supplied to households and drainwater is spilling onto the roads," he added.

Listing the BJP's poll promises, Nadda asked the public to vote for the BJP and benefit from the central government's welfare schemes such as Ayushman Bharat, which is not implemented in Delhi.

"Any development work that has happened in Delhi has been done by Modi ji. Elect our government and we will provide Rs 5 lakh from Modi ji and Rs 5 lakh from the Delhi government," he said, referring to the insurance cover promised by the BJP in its manifesto.

Elections to the 70-member Delhi Assembly will be held on February 5 and the votes counted on February 8.

Delhi election Live updates: EC refuses to get drawn into Delhi-Haryana water dispute New Delhi

The EC on Thursday refused to get drawn into the Yamuna water dispute between Delhi and Haryana, saying it would leave "this important matter" to the competence of the governments.

The poll body also asked AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal not to mix the issue of increased ammonia levels in the Yamuna with his allegation of river poisoning, and gave him a fresh opportunity to explain his charges against the Haryana government.

In a fresh letter to Kejriwal, a former Delhi chief minister, the Election Commission (EC) said it agreed with the contention that availability of sufficient and clean water was a governance issue and all governments concerned at all times should engage in securing this for all the people.

"The commission finds no reason for anyone to dispute this noble position. It will leave this important matter to the competence and good discretion of the governments and the agencies without arbitering during the short time frame of the election period" on water sharing or water pollution issues, it said.

The poll authority said these issues had a long past and also long-term implications for the future.

The EC also reminded Kejriwal that Supreme Court and National Green Tribunal directions were already in play.

Delhi election Live updates: Amit Shah slams AAP, Arvind Kejriwal over Yamuna river 'poisoning'

Union Home Minister Amit Shah Thursday alleged that AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal allowed the Yamuna river to get polluted and forced the people of Delhi to drink its water.

With people asking what happened to fulfilling his promise of making the Yamuna clean like the Thames river in London, Kejriwal is making an "excuse" by falsely accusing the BJP government in Haryana of mixing poison in the river, Shah charged while addressing a public meeting in the Rohini Assembly constituency.

He termed Kejriwal's accusation against the Haryana government "petty politics" and alleged the AAP government could not fulfil Kejriwal's promise of cleaning the Yamuna during its 10-year rule due to "corruption".

"Kejriwal says people from the BJP have mixed poison in the Yamuna to trouble the people of Delhi. I have come to tell Kejriwal that he should stop telling lies to win the election," Shah told the gathering.

"Kejriwal, you polluted Yamuna and forced the people of Delhi to drink its water. And you offered all the money meant to be used in the cleaning of the river to AAP's corruption," he charged.

Shah alleged that Kejriwal is resorting to such "petty politics" after sensing his party's defeat in the upcoming assembly polls. "They keep making excuses... Kejriwal ji, leave (Delhi for the BJP) if you cannot do anything. We will show how Delhi can be better governed," he said.

The AAP means "lies and deception", he said, alleging that its government failed to fulfil any of its promises. Kejriwal made entire Delhi a "kind of dustbin" during the 10-year rule of AAP, the senior BJP leader added.

Shah also raked up the issue of alleged corruption during 10 years of AAP's rule in Delhi and alleged that scams worth crores of rupees were committed during its term under the leadership of Kejriwal.

Delhi Election 2025 Live Updates: AAP leaders carry bottles of ammonia mixed water to BJP headquarters; dare Amit Shah, Nayab Saini to drink it

The AAP leaders were stopped by police near the BJP headquarters in Delhi on Thursday, as they tried to give ammonia mixed water to the party leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Amid controversy over his "Haryana government mixed poison in water for Delhi", AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal earlier the day claimed that ammonia content in Yamuna went up to 7 ppm (parts per million) that is dangerous for human health.

During a press conference, Kejriwal also showed four bottles -- one each for Shah, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

He said the AAP leaders will present the bottles to the BJP and Congress leaders, daring them to drink it if they thought that it was fit for human consumption.

Carrying a bottle outside the BJP headquarters here, AAP's Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said this "poisonous" water is having six times more ammonia than permissible limit that was being tried to be supplied in Delhi.

"We want to take this water to the BJP office and let Shah, Sachdeva, Saini and Rahul Gandhi, who is supporting them, drink it," he said.

The AAP leader said that the BJP should be ashamed and alleged it wanted to make the people of Delhi drink "poisonous" water.

Delhi Election 2025 Live Updates: Arvind Kejriwal slams Congress, cities AAP's achievements

AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, speaking in Delhi, claimed that some Congress supporters met him and told him that the party is not how it once used to be.

"They said now all that the party’s leaders do is fight among themselves…they cited the example of Haryana, they said it was an election which we had almost won…they said while Congress supporters do their best to make the party win an election, its leaders do all they can to make sure it loses," Kejriwal said.

He added: "Then they mentioned an interesting thing: that it was clear for all to see that the Congress’s aim is clear: to make the AAP lose the election. The Congress is not contesting the election to win even a single seat, but fighting along with the BJP to make the AAP lose."

Kejriwal continued: "I told them I don’t know how to do politics, all I know is how to work. I worked not only for the AAP but also for you. I asked them, do you get free power at home? They said they do. I said, am I not the one who made electricity free?"

"I asked where do your children study, they said in government schools. I asked, hasn’t their condition improved? BJP will worsen the condition of government schools, stop free power and water, shut mohalla clinics, stop free bus rides for women."

"You will get additional expenses of Rs. 25,000 per month, I told them…where will you get this money from? They said I was right. I asked them, then what is the point of voting for the Congress?…I assured them of all help whenever they needed it in the future," Kejriwal said.

Delhi Election 2025 Live Updates: Congress and AAP now exposing each other's corruption, says BJP

Taking potshots at the Congress and AAP, BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi on Thursday alleged that the two parties gave clean chits to each other about six months ago and are now exposing their corruption.

Addressing a press conference, Trivedi said Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has given a statement for the AAP's liquor scam that it was an open corruption and the party's national convenor Arvind Kejriwal is corrupt. He (Kejriwal) is giving certificates of honesty to himself even after that, he added.

Trivedi said the AAP supremo alleged that the Congress is involved in the National Herald corruption case. "Both these scams are unique in Indian politics. In connection with liquor scam, you have never seen that a policy government formed and later takes it back.

After withdrawing, they have said that the policy was good and defended it in media," he said. The National Herald case is important in that way where a party has scammed its own institute. The BJP had nothing to do with these two cases since the National Herald case was started in October 2013 when the Congress government was at the Centre and the first allegation of liquor scam was levelled by the Congress, the BJP MP stated.

"One thing is clear in front of the people of Delhi that both these parties lie. They were giving clean chits to each other six months ago and now exposing each other's corruption. It means that the Congress Party was lying on the National Herald and the AAP was lying on the liquor scam," he alleged.

Trivedi further claimed that the Centre gave Rs 8,500 crore to clean Yamuna.
