Brooklyn nightclub Paragon is set to host an inauguration party for the Mayor-Elect of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, on New Year’s Day.

The venue will open its doors to the public from 8:PM on January 1, the same day the new mayor will be sworn in and make history as the city’s first Muslim and Asian-American mayor, and the youngest since 1892.

“On New Year’s Day, New York City will swear in our new mayor, democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani,” Paragon said on Instagram. “Celebrate and join the party. Make your resolution to fight for a city we can afford to live and dream in.”

The event will feature tables downstairs and a dancefloor upstairs, where an all-Brooklyn bill of artists will perform across the evening, including Ashley Venom, DJ Sanna, KYRUH, and Pure Immanence.

There will also be guest speakers throughout the event, which is hosted by the New York City Democratic Socialists of America (NYC-DSA) – with all proceeds going toward “building a winning socialist movement that can deliver an affordable New York”.

Zohran Mamdani has been heavily involved in the city’s nightlife scene since his campaign began, previously appearing at venues including Mood Ring, Gabriela, and Elsewhere, as well as a recent Brooklyn show from PinkPantheress.

In June, several months before Mamdani was elected, New York-based DJ Avalon Emerson sampled one of his speeches in a track that she dropped during a set at Brooklyn nightclub Nowadays.

The breakbeat track sampled a speech from a televised debate between Mamdani and former New York governor Andrew Cuomo, which vied for early support from voters.
