Black Stars issues are more psychological than spiritual—Kwasi Nyantakyi
by Ayeh Offei-Akoto · MyNewsGh.comThe former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwasi Nyantakyi, has urged the Association to procure the services of a psychologist for the Black Stars team.
According to him, what is happening to the team is more psychological than spiritual.
He cited Otto Addo’s decision to hop onto the pitch when Ghana equalized against Niger during the AFCON qualifiers as an indication that the Black Stars players, technical team, and management need to be attended to by a psychologist.
“We shouldn’t sit and say the team is being dealt a blow by a spiritualist. It is an issue of psychology. I didn’t go to the stadium for the Niger game, but I watched it on television. However, I saw the coach jump onto the pitch when Ghana equalized.
Clearly, it was an indication that something huge had been taken off his head. You could see that he was burdened, and the goal gave him some relief, so the psychologist who will work on the players has to also work on the technical team and the management as well,” he told Asempa FM.
On whether he would have sacked Otto Addo if he were the GFA president, Kwasi Nyantakyi indicated that he would not have sacked him since it is an attempt to build the capacity of a Ghanaian, but rather, he would get him a technical advisor who he could learn from.
