Phone Sold For GH¢100, Car Impounded: Net Widens In Nana Yaw Kyere Murder Case

Police say they have retrieved the victim’s iPhone 12, which suspect Philip Tefe allegedly sold for GH¢100. The buyer, identified in the release as Sunday Omeje, has been cautioned and detained for dishonestly receiving the phone. The statement does not accuse him of any role in the killing.
Police arrested a third suspect, Josiah Obodai, after further investigations. Police say he is being investigated in connection with the disposal of Mr. Kyere’s body. His father’s Kia Morning, which police believe was used to convey the body, has been impounded.
According to the Ghana Police Service, the 33-year-old Mr Kyere left his Kokomlemle home in Accra on September 19 and was lured to Mr Tefe’s residence at Teshie Agbleza by suspect Sarah Osei Adams. Police say Mr Tefe and Ms Adams later confessed to their involvement and indicated that Mr Tefe hit him with a metallic object during a confrontation. He was left unattended and later died, according to the police account.
Investigators say the body was then taken to a location near the motorway on September 20, dumped in a bush and set ablaze. Police found it at Community 18 on September 21 and identified it on September 24 by the victim’s mother and an uncle.
The statement, signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Richmond Mensah, says the three main suspects will be put before the court. It adds that investigations continue “to identify and arrest other persons who may have been involved in the case.”
The police have not said what charges will be filed. None of those named has been convicted, and none has publicly responded to the allegations.
