Galamsey Fight: More Water Guards to be Employed to Help—John Mahama Hints

According to him, the Minister for Finance has seen the need and has assured him of raising funds to ensure that more water guards are employed to help protect the country’s water bodies.
Speaking at a forum where he addressed a section of Ghanaians in the United States of America, the President said, “It is a very complex fight, it is not easy. The water bodies we put the water guards on it. A lot of the chanfan on Ankobrah has been removed and burned and so there is a gradual change in the sight of the Ankobrah river but you still have to go to their tributaries because there are so many that feed into the Ankobrah. So even after you clear the main channel you must go into the tributaries and clear them.
Adding that “and so what we need is we need more water guards and so the Minister for finance has agreed to put up more money to employ more young people as water guards, train them, go into the field to help NAIMOS to do the clearing”.
