“Loose Talk Can Hurt Wontumi’s Appeal” – George Opoku Amponsah

Speaking on Oyerepa Radio, Mr. Amponsah said the party must approach discussions surrounding the case with caution and demonstrate confidence in Ghana’s judicial system if it intends to challenge the ruling.
“If the NPP intends to appeal Chairman Wontumi’s prison sentence, we must be careful with comments on the matter and avoid speaking emotionally, as doing so could jeopardise the appeal process,” he said.
He appealed to party communicators and supporters to be measured in their public statements, stressing that the focus should remain on the legal process rather than emotional reactions.
“I appeal to the NPP to be measured in the conversations and communications around this case. We should speak in a way that shows we have confidence in the rules and laws we have in the country,” he stated.
Mr. Amponsah maintained that disciplined communication would better position the party to pursue any legal remedies available while demonstrating respect for the country’s judicial processes.
