MP raises questions over last-minute court injunction requested on Daddy Lumba’s funeral

Speaking on Asempa FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com, the Member of Parliament(MP) for Akwatia, Bernard Bediako Baidoo, revealed that although an injunction was sought to halt the funeral, the court did not grant it because the applicants were unable to meet a financial requirement imposed by the judge.
“Why did they wait until a day before the funeral to go to court and seek an injunction?” the MP questioned during the interview. “It is therefore not surprising that, within a few hours, the judge ruled that they must pay a sum of two million cedis.”
According to him, the payment was a condition set by the court, and because the amount was not paid, the injunction did not take effect.
Mr. Bediako Baidoo explained that the timing of the court action was particularly troubling, given the scale of preparations already undertaken for the funeral.
“The Abusuapanyin had already made important purchases for the funeral, considering how big Daddy Lumba’s funeral is,” he said. “So why go to court a day before the funeral?”
He suggested that the late legal move created unnecessary tension and confusion, especially after significant logistical and financial commitments had already been made.
