In a tribute shared after his burial in Koforidua, the Presidential Adviser said Dr. Omane Boamah played a critical role in sustaining confidence during difficult moments within the National Democratic Congress, particularly after the party’s 2016 electoral defeat.
“You stood firm,” she wrote. “When others drifted away, you held tightly to your family and to the few friends you had.”
She revealed that the late minister had made a personal pledge regarding President John Dramani Mahama’s political return.
“You made one promise to me,” she said. “You promised that President John Mahama’s comeback would be one of the greatest in Ghana’s history. True to your word, you delivered.”
According to her, his subsequent appointment as Defence Minister was not incidental.
“Your appointment was no accident; it was well earned,” she stated, pointing to his clarity of purpose in strengthening the armed forces and safeguarding Ghana’s sovereignty.
She said Dr. Omane Boamah approached his role with a strong sense of responsibility, focused on equipping the military and supporting the broader success of the Mahama administration.
“Who else could have carried such responsibility with such clarity of purpose?” she asked.
Joyce Bawah Mogtari described his death as a sudden rupture in a shared journey.
“How can a single day undo years of shared history?” she wrote, referring to the helicopter crash that claimed his life on August 6, 2025.
She concluded by acknowledging the finality of his work and service. “You ran a good race. You finished your work on earth,” she said. “Until we meet again, I say thank you.”
