Two injured after car crashes into house

Two people have suffered minor injuries after a car crashed into a house in Newcastle on Friday morning.

Emergency services were called to Roe Street at Mayfield about 10.50am after a sedan carrying two people crashed into a house, police said in a statement.

The occupants of the car were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for minor injuries, police said later on Friday.

The Newcastle Herald understands the weatherboard Roe Street house was not occupied at the time of the accident

The road was briefly closed as the vehicle was towed from the house. The road has now been reopened, police said.

Inquiries into the incident were underway by officers attached to Newcastle City Police District, police said.
