Ekiti election: APC takes early lead in Ilawe-Ekiti
The Senator representing the Ekiti South Senatorial District, Yemi Adaramodu, has delivered his polling unit for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
The APC won Ward 001, Unit 011, Owaosun/Tedio/Oloriawo, with 137 votes, beating its closest rival, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which scored 17 votes.
The party also won in Unit 4, Ward 1, with 133 votes, against the ADC and PDP, which scored 7 and 8 votes, respectively.
Early results from Ward 1 and Ward 4, Ilawe-Ekiti, indicate that the ruling APC is taking an early lead, according to The Nation.

The governorship candidate of the Accord Party in the Ekiti state election, Opeyemi Falegan, has alleged widespread vote-buying and operational lapses during the ongoing governorship poll, describing the process as falling short of democratic standards.
Falegan made the allegations in a series of posts on his Facebook page shortly after casting his vote at his polling unit in Idofin, Ado-Ekiti, The Nation reported.
According to the Accord Party candidate, he observed incidents of voter inducement at his polling unit, claiming that some individuals were allegedly offering voters money in exchange for support for one of the candidates in the election.

Ekiti attack: Police station burned
Two police officers were injured after suspected assailants attacked and set ablaze the Isan Police Station in Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti state on Friday evening, June 19.
A police officer, who spoke to Premium Times on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to comment on the incident, said the attack began around 6 p.m.
According to the officer, one of the injured policemen is in a coma and receiving treatment at a hospital. He said several vehicles were destroyed during the attack, including a long bus reportedly hired by police personnel from Abuja.

INEC on Friday, June 19, reiterated its commitment to conducting a transparent and credible governorship election in Ekiti state.
Speaking with newsmen on Friday, June 19, in Ado Ekiti, Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ekiti state, Bunmi Omoseyindemi, however, raised concerns about rising incidences of fake news and misinformation, which he described as major threats to the smooth conduct of the election.

1 million voters to decide Ekiti election
The Independent National Electoral Commission of Nigeria (INEC) announced the successful conclusion of the permanent voter card (PVC) collection exercise for the Ekiti state governorship election.
According to Guardian, INEC revealed that over 1.02 million voters have collected their cards ahead of the 2026 Ekiti state gubernatorial election.
