Yenagoa, Bayelsa State - Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has won the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary election in Bayelsa State.

Amaechi defeated former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Hayatu-Deen Muhammed to emerged winner in the South-South state.

In Bayelsa State, the former Rivers state governor secured a total of 44,404 votes, Atiku scored 6,570 votes, while Hayatu-Deen polled 939 votes.

The ADC presidential primary election was conducted across the eight local government areas of the state on Monday, May 25, 2026.

The ADC primary occurred amid the ongoing contest among aspirants seeking the party’s presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general election against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Atiku wins ADC presidential primary in Sokoto

Recall that Atiku Abubakar won the ADC presidential primary in Sokoto state with 68,823 votes.

The former transportation minister, Rotimi Amaechi, and Muhammad Hayatuddeen received 292 and 319 votes, respectively.

According to the returning officer, Prof. Aminu Abubakar, a total of 69,434 votes were cast during the primary election.

ADC Announces Winner of Presidential Primary Election in Yobe
