A Pakistani man has been docked over the alleged murder of an administrator of a community WhatsApp group. The WhatsApp administrator was said to have removed the man from the group chat.

According to the police, the administrator identified as Mushtaq Ahmed was shot dead in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a community that shares borders with Afghanistan, a country with a history of sectarian bloodshed.

Why WhatsApp group member killed admin

The man, who was named only as Ashfaq, was charged with the murder of the administrator after an argument ensued between them. This was disclosed in a statement by the brother, according to Channels TV.

The brother further revealed that the parties had agreed to reconcile but stated that Ashfaq turned up for the reconciliation with a gun and opened fire at his brother, which eventually led to his death.

According to the statement, Ashfaq was angry “in reaction to removal from WhatsApp group.”

Such incidents have been said to be consistent in the province as a result of weak law enforcement, the availability of firearms and the influence of tribal customs.

Tinubu's minister's WhatsApp hacked

President Bola Tinubu's Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, announced on his X account that his phone line had been hacked. He warned the public to avoid contacting the compromised number and to ignore any messages requesting assistance until the issue is resolved.

The Ministry of Education confirmed the breach, stating that unauthorised individuals were using the hacked WhatsApp number. They regretted any inconvenience caused and advised the public to disregard messages from the number until further notice.

Minister investigates phone hack

The ministry urged everyone to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity, noting that the matter was under investigation.

The tweet reads:

"Good morning. My phone line has been compromised. Please refrain from calling the number and ignore any messages requesting assistance until the issue is resolved.
"Thank you for your understanding."

Police arrest MTN hacker

Legit.ng earlier reported that the report that hackers of the MTN website cleared the debt of subscribers on the telecom network was false.

A Facebook user, Update King, had shared a picture of 23-year-old Jeffery Okafor, who was arrested and tried in London for a murder case as an IT student who hacked the MTN website.

Update King's post was not backed up with any credible report, while MTN acknowledged the situation and attributed it to an unexpected glitch.

EFCC arrests cryptocurrency fraud suspects

The EFCC has announced the arrest of 792 cryptocurrency and romance scammers in Lagos, the largest since its establishment.

Wilson Uwujaren, the spokesperson of the EFCC, stated that 114 Chinese, 40 Filipinos, two Khazartans, one Pakistani, and one Indonesian national were among the suspects.

The anti-graft agency also disclosed when it began to trail the suspect and finally found the building in which they operated from.
