Trump Store Now Selling ‘Trump 2028’ Merch: ‘Rewrite the Rules’

The Trump organization’s online store is now peddling “Trump 2028” hats, t-shirts, and beer koozies.

On Thursday, Eric Trump, the president’s son, posted a photo of himself on his Instagram story wearing a “Trump 2028″ hat, which is being sold online for $50.

To be clear: The 22nd Amendment explicitly states, “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.” The law was added to the Constitution after Franklin Delano Roosevelt was elected for a fourth term, to prevent the concentration of power and safeguard democracy. Since it was ratified in 1951, no other president has served more than two terms.

Trump has made his disregard for the Constitution overtly clear in the past and has willingly admitted that he’s already searching for loopholes that could extend his stay in the White. In March, he told NBC  that was “not joking” about the possibility of seeking an unconstitutional third term, saying that there were “methods” to do it.

During his first year in office, the president claimed he deserved eight additional years in office because, he falsely alleged, his campaign was spied on in 2016 — an assertion his own FBI refuted in a detailed report. “We are going to win four more years,” Trump said. “And then after that, we’ll go for another four years because they spied on my campaign. We should get a redo of four years.”

During a December speech, MAGA podcast host Steve Bannon suggested, “Maybe we do it again in ‘28?” Earlier this month, when speaking to Bill Maher, Bannon said he had a “team of people” working to circumvent the 22nd Amendment.

On the Trump Store website, the hat’s description includes a clear call to the president’s followers and allies: “Rewrite the rules with the Trump 2028 high crown hat.”
