Iran and Israel Trade Blows: Haifa Strike Kills Two as More Than 25 Reported Dead in Tehran Air Raids

Israeli rescue services confirmed that two people were killed after an Iranian missile struck a residential apartment building in the northern city of Haifa, with emergency teams continuing to search through the rubble for additional victims. The bodies were recovered after an extended operation in which responders used heavy equipment to clear debris from the partially collapsed structure.

Authorities said the strike caused extensive destruction to the seven-storey building, which was hit directly, leading to sections of the structure collapsing inward. Firefighters and rescue units worked through the night, using flashlights and machinery to reach lower floors where people were believed to be trapped. Officials initially reported four missing residents, later confirming two fatalities.

Emergency services added that four people were injured in the attack, including a 10-month-old baby suffering a head wound. An 82-year-old man was also seriously hurt after being struck by debris and blast pressure, though he was later stabilized in hospital. Additional victims sustained injuries caused by shrapnel and the force of the explosion.

Rescue teams described the scene as heavily damaged, with broken concrete, glass, and smoke filling the area as dozens of personnel searched the site. One elderly resident was reportedly pulled alive from the rubble after responders manually removed large sections of collapsed material.

The attack came amid renewed missile fire from Iran, which triggered air raid sirens across central Israel, including Tel Aviv. Warning systems activated twice within a short period, with residents reporting loud explosions shortly after alerts were issued. The Israeli military confirmed it had detected incoming missiles launched from Iranian territory.

The Tel Aviv alerts marked the first such warnings in more than 24 hours, highlighting a continued pattern of escalation between the two sides. Israeli defense systems were activated to intercept incoming threats as successive waves of missiles were detected.

At the same time, Iran faced a major wave of Israeli and US airstrikes overnight, with explosions reported across Tehran and multiple other cities. Iranian sources said at least 25 people were killed, including children, in strikes that hit residential areas and strategic sites.

One of the most significant strikes reportedly targeted Tehran’s Sharif University of Technology, causing damage to buildings and a nearby energy distribution facility. Other attacks hit areas around Eslamshar, Qom, and additional locations, with casualties reported across several regions.

Residents in Tehran described hours of continuous explosions and low-flying aircraft over the capital, while Iranian state and semi-official media reported damage to infrastructure and residential districts. Some strikes were also reported near military-linked or sensitive facilities, though full details remain unclear.

The simultaneous escalation has left both countries reporting casualties and destruction, with Israel struck by missile fire on one side and Iran enduring sustained aerial bombardment on the other, as the conflict continues to expand without signs of de-escalation.
