Ahmedabad PG security guard ties wire around student's neck, rapes her on terrace
A security guard at a paying guest accommodation in Ahmedabad was arrested after a student alleged he raped her on the terrace. Police formed 10 teams, examined CCTV footage and continued investigating the circumstances around the case.

A woman living in a paying guest accommodation in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad was allegedly raped by a security guard after she went to the building’s terrace for a walk, with police arresting the accused within hours of the incident.
The incident took place at a PG in the Anandnagar area on Saturday, August 8. The woman, who is studying interior designing, had gone to the terrace at around 10 pm when the security guard was also present there.
According to the preliminary information, when the woman tried to leave the terrace to get away from the guard, he allegedly tied a wire around her neck and raped her. She was later taken to hospital, where she is undergoing treatment.
The accused has been identified as Dharm Singh, a security guard at the PG. Police arrested him on Sunday morning after launching a large-scale search operation.
Following the incident, Anandnagar police, the Local Crime Branch and the Crime Branch formed 10 teams to track down the accused.
The teams searched for Singh through the night before police managed to apprehend him in the morning.
Police have also shared CCTV footage showing the accused moving between the floors and the terrace using the lift. The footage is part of the evidence being examined as part of the investigation.
Preliminary information suggests that Singh is a native of Hardoi district in Uttar Pradesh. He had reportedly started working as a security guard at the PG only a few days before the alleged rape.
Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and are examining the CCTV footage and other available evidence.
The woman remains under medical treatment following the alleged assault.
