Security forces kill terrorist in J&K's Kishtwar as gunfight continues for third day

A terrorist was killed as a joint anti-terror operation by security forces and the Jammu and Kashmir Police entered its third day on Friday in the dense forests of Chhatru in Kishtwar district, officials said.

According to official sources, the operation was launched on April 9 based on specific intelligence inputs regarding terrorist movement in the area. Troops from the Indian Army, in coordination with the J&K Police, initiated a search-and-destroy mission in the Chhatru forest region.

Contact with the terrorists was established late in the evening on the same day, leading to an exchange of fire. One terrorist has been neutralised so far, officials confirmed.

The encounter is taking place in difficult terrain under adverse weather conditions.
