Qatar repatriates bodies of all Indians killed in Ras Laffan gas facility fire
Eight Indian nationals killed in the Ras Laffan industrial accident in Qatar have been repatriated to India, days after a gas facility explosion claimed 13 lives and injured 66 people.

The bodies of eight Indian nationals who died in the Ras Laffan industrial accident in Qatar have been repatriated to India, the Indian Embassy in Doha said on Friday.
In a post on X, the embassy said the bodies were brought back to India on June 26. It added that bodies of four of the 12 Indian nationals had already been repatriated on June 25.
"The mortal remains of 8 Indian nationals who unfortunately passed away in Ras Laffan accident have been repatriated to India on June 26. Four out of 12 mortal remains had been repatriated on June 25," the embassy said.
The Embassy of India in Doha also thanked Qatari authorities, Indian community organisations and government authorities in India for their prompt assistance following the tragedy.
"Embassy of India, Doha thanks Qatari authorities, Indian community organisations and Government authorities in India for their prompt support," it said.
Ambassador and embassy officials met some of the injured Indian nationals at Alkhor on Friday. The embassy said all injured persons had received necessary medical treatment and expressed gratitude to Qatari authorities and representatives of the employer company for their support.
The repatriation came days after a deadly explosion and fire at a gas facility in Qatar's Ras Laffan Industrial City claimed at least 13 lives and left 66 others injured.
Qatar's Energy Minister and QatarEnergy CEO Saad bin Shreida Al-Kaabi had said the incident occurred at the Barzan local gas supply facility on Sunday evening during the start-up of operations. He confirmed that those killed included people of Indian and Pakistani origin.
Following the incident, the Indian Embassy in Doha said it was in constant contact with Qatari authorities and would provide all possible assistance to the families of those killed and injured.
QatarEnergy said emergency response teams were deployed immediately after the explosion and fire, which was later brought under control. The injured included nationals from several countries, including India, Qatar, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Tanzania, Guinea, Kenya and Nigeria.
