Ex-Army man, wife found in pool of blood with throats slit inside home in UP's Hathras

The victims were identified as Shamsuddin and his wife Saddo. The incident came to light on Sunday morning when neighbours became suspicious after the main door of the house remained unopened.

A 58-year-old former serviceman and his wife were found with their throats slit inside their home in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras district, with police saying they appeared to have been repeatedly stabbed with a knife.

The incident came to light at around 9.30 am on Sunday when neighbours became suspicious after the main door of the house remained unopened.

With the help of family members, they managed to open the door and were horrified to find Shamsuddin and Saddo Begum lying inside, covered in blood.

Police were immediately informed, following which officers and a large force reached the spot. The area was secured and the crime scene was sealed.

A forensic team was called in to collect evidence, while the bodies were taken into police custody and sent for post-mortem examinations.

The motive behind the double murder remains unclear. Police are questioning neighbours and family members as part of the investigation.

Footage from CCTV cameras installed near the house is also being examined for clues about the incident.
